Connected Capital is a youth-led project which aims to understand exactly how financial literacy and digital inclusion can contribute to greater economic participation within underserved and peri-urban communities in India, starting with communities within New Delhi and Bangalore. Built around the understanding that access to technology and financial knowledge are increasingly interconnected, the initiative hopes to explore and incorporate practical ways of making these more achievable to those who may otherwise face barriers.
More specifically, the project plans to develop a series of interconnected initiatives that approach financial literacy and digital inclusion from multiple angles. These include an academic commentary series examining successful financial inclusion and digital access models from India and around the world, as well as a practical guide introducing readers to basic but helpful concepts in personal finance, digital payments, and government resources. To complement education and awareness, Connected Capital also hopes to organise a fundraiser facilitating the distribution of devices and data resources through community partnerships; and also host an expert-led workshop that translates financial and digital concepts into everyday skills.
